DAMS Lucas Oil picks up podium at F2 finale in Abu Dhabi
DAMS Lucas Oil secured an excellent Sprint Race podium on Saturday with Formula 2 rookie Dino Beganovic.
The Scuderia Ferrari Academy Driver lined up fifth for the first race of the weekend after a second strong qualifying performance in as many weeks, and defended brilliantly to cross the line in fourth. A post-race disqualification for another driver meant that the Swede earnt his first F2 podium in just his third race in the championship.
On the other side of the garage, Jak Crawford battled through the field, gaining an impressive 13 places to finish in eighth and securing a crucial point.
In Sunday’s Feature Race, Beganovic would keep his starting position of fourth off the line before pitting on Lap 8. Contending with an electric issue, he would deliver a solid drive to secure a good haul of points in seventh.
In the #7 car, Crawford would suffer opening lap contact and then a braking issue which led to his retirement on Lap 5.

Dino Beganovic: “I’m delighted to pick up my first podium in Saturday’s Sprint Race! I recovered well after a difficult start to the event, and had some great battles on-track which were enjoyable. We then showed good pace again on Sunday but a technical issue limited our progress, however, we still crossed the line in seventh. I’ve loved the two rounds with DAMS Lucas Oil, and would like to thank them for the opportunity, wishing them all the best for the future.”

Charles Pic, Team Owner: “It’s great to see Dino earning his first podium of his F2 career with a great drive in Saturday’s event. Jak did brilliantly in the Sprint Race to come back through the field to claim a crucial point in the championship. On Sunday, unfortunately Jak suffered opening lap contact as well as a braking issue which forced him to retire. Dino delivered a solid drive, considering he had an electrical problem, taking a good haul of points in another impressive weekend for him.
“We’ve finished the year sixth in the Teams’ championship, which is not where we want to be, and we’ll aim to improve on this next campaign. The focus now turns to the post-season test which begins on Wednesday as we look to prepare as best we can for 2025. Additionally, we would like to thank Dino for his efforts in the last two rounds and wish him all the best for his future.”
