Challenging F3 weekend for DAMS Lucas Oil in Imola
DAMS Lucas Oil missed out on points during a difficult Round 3 of the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship at Imola this weekend, but showed promising pace with Nicola Lacorte during both races.
In Saturday’s Sprint, the Italian started 18th as he impressed at his home event to gain three positions, securing 15th. Christian Ho also battled his way through the field, moving up four places to finish 21st, while Matías Zagazeta would suffer contact on Lap 9, ending his event early.
In the Feature Race, Lacorte would drop to last after stalling on the grid, but the Alpine Academy driver delivered a determined drive to come back through the pack, crossing the line 18th. However, a ten-second penalty demoted him to 25th. Ho managed to replicate his performance from the day before, taking 21st as Matías Zagazeta finished just behind his teammate in 22nd.
Formula 3 now heads to Monaco for the second instalment of the triple-header on 22-25 May.
Nicola Lacorte: “Our overall pace was good throughout the weekend as I feel more confident with the car. There was minimal running during Saturday’s event due to the Safety Car, but we managed to gain places. In the Feature Race, I stalled off the grid which I can only apologise to the team for, but we came back strongly to finish 18th before the penalty. It’s a hectic schedule now with Monaco and Barcelona coming up and I’m optimistic heading there after this round.”
Qualifying: 18th | Sprint Race: 15th | Feature Race: 25th
Christian Ho: “The weekend was a tough one as a team at a new track for me and even though we lacked pace during qualifying, I had traffic on my lap that cost me a chance of the top-12. During the race, we struggled with tyre degradation but still managed to make up four positions in both rounds. We’re determined to respond next time out in Monaco as we look to bounce back.”

Matías Zagazeta: “It was a difficult weekend as we struggled from the beginning in Free Practice and didn’t achieve the performance we wanted in qualifying. It’s always tricky from there to score good results and I suffered contact during the Sprint Race which caused a DNF. We saw some positives on Sunday that we’ll look to take into Monaco as we aim to improve at what will be a special event.”

Charles Pic, Team Owner: “It was a challenging weekend for the team as we struggled for pace throughout the event. Nicola delivered some strong performances, showing his confidence with the car as he produced multiple overtakes throughout both rounds. Christian and Matías fought with high tyre degradation and despite their best efforts this hampered their progress. The margins in this category are so tight that when we don’t qualify inside the top-12 it makes the task of scoring points very tricky. Overall, there are some positives to take but we’ve learnt a lot as a group which we’ll aim to get right in the next two events of the triple-header in Monaco and Barcelona.”
