It was a strong weekend in terms of results for DAMS in Budapest, as Nicholas Latifi took victory in the feature race and Sergio Sette Camara added a podium in the sprint. Sadly, the event was overshadowed by the sad news of Jean-Paul Driot’s passing.
It is with great sadness that Driot Associés Motor Sport (DAMS) announces its founder and owner, Jean-Paul Driot, has passed away at the age of 68. Jean-Paul lost an ongoing battle with illness, which he had fought in recent months. We wish our sincerest condolences to his wife Geneviève and two sons Olivier and Gregory. (more…)

DAMS remporte ce week-end à Silverstone son 10ème podium de la saison de Formule 2 FIA 2019. Nicholas Latifi termine deuxième de la Manche Principale et marque de nouveau des points en Course Sprint. Ces deux résultats lui permettent de réduire l’écart avec le leader du classement Pilotes. Sergio Sette Camara rallie l’arrivée au pied du podium en Course 1.
Nicholas Latifi : « Nous avons malheureusement eu un problème de limiteur moteur lors de la qualification et cela ne nous permet pas d’être mieux placés sur la grille ou de faire la pole ! Le quatrième chrono n’est quand même pas trop mal. Je me suis régalé lors de la Manche Principale, nous avons eu quelques belles passes d’armes pour la première place, mais il nous a manqué un peu de rythme. Je suis un peu déçu pour l’équipe car je voulais vraiment gagner cette épreuve. J’ai pris un bon départ lors de la Manche Sprint, j’ai été très agressif mais j’ai abimé mes pneumatiques lors des deux premiers tours et j’ai ensuite dû assurer jusqu’au drapeau à damier. La course a été difficile à gérer, je suis donc satisfait de marquer des points même si nous aurions pu réduire davantage l’écart au championnat. »
Sergio Sette Camara : « Nous espérions mieux de ce meeting. Nous avions la voiture pour être en pole et un bon rythme en Manche Principale, obtenant même le meilleur tour en course. Malheureusement nous repartons de Silverstone avec seulement 14 points et c’est vraiment dommage pour l’équipe. Je ne suis pas satisfait de mon week-end et il faudra commettre moins d’erreur en Hongrie pour revenir aux avant-postes. »
La huitième manche du championnat de Formule 2 FIA 2019 se déroulera à Budapest, en Hongrie, du 2 au 4 août.
DAMS took its 10th podium of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 season in the Silverstone Feature Race with Nicholas Latifi, who scored further points in the Sprint Race and closed in on the drivers’ championship lead, while Sergio Sette Camara also added to the tally.
Nicholas Latifi: “Qualifying was a bit frustrating as we had some engine limiter issues that cost us a chance to be further up the grid, possibly fighting for pole. Still, fourth was not a bad place to start. A fun Feature Race with some good battles fighting for the lead, unfortunately we just didn’t have the overall pace to push for it so I was disappointed for myself and the team because I was hoping to bring home a win. We had a good start to the Sprint Race, being quite aggressive as well but I damaged my tyres in the first two laps and from then I was hanging on to the end. It was a very difficult race to manage, so I’m happy to score points but even if we couldn’t move forward more.”
Sergio Sette Camara: “It’s not the event we expected. We had the car to fight for pole and in the Feature Race battled for the quickest laps and pace, but we’ve left Silverstone with only 14 points so it’s a shame for the team. I’m not happy with the weekend, we need to make fewer mistakes in Hungary and come back stronger.”
The eighth round of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship will take place in Budapest, Hungary on 2-4 August.
