Sergio Sette Camara remporte ce week-end sur le Red Bull Ring sa première victoire de la saison en championnat FIA de Formule 2. Nicholas Latifi marque de nouveaux points importants qui permettent à l’écurie mancelle de conserver la tête du championnat Équipes.
Sergio Sette Camara « Un week-end avec des hauts et des bas qui a commencé par une séance qualificative très décevante. Je ne comprends pas comment on peut être facilement en pole sur un circuit et ne plus avoir de rythme une semaine plus tard. La Manche Principale ne s’est pas bien déroulée pour l’équipe et moi-même. Nous aurions pu réaliser un double podium mais j’ai malheureusement commis une faute et accroché Nicky. Il est parti en tête-à-queue et j’ai écopé d’une pénalité, compromettant ainsi le résultat global pour DAMS. Nicky et l’équipe m’ont pardonné et j’apprécie beaucoup. La Course Sprint s’est mieux passée et je gagne ! Cette victoire arrive au bon moment et me met en confiance pour la deuxième partie de la saison. Nous sommes revenus au championnat et devons conserver cette énergie positive lors des prochaines manches. »
Nicholas Latifi « Le meeting n’a pas trop mal débuté lors des essais libres avec le quatrième meilleur temps, à deux dixièmes du chrono le plus rapide. Malheureusement nous n’avons pas confirmé en qualifications et je dois me contenter de la sixième position sur la grille de départ. Les écarts étaient vraiment très serrés et mon tour lancé n’était pas parfait. Je n’ai pas grand-chose à dire sur la Manche Principale si ce n’est que le contact a anéanti mon week-end. Je suis parti en tête-à-queue avant de me retrouver en dernière position. J’ai réussi à remonter jusqu’à la neuvième place, démontrant que nous avions le rythme pour être au moins sur le podium. Je me suis ensuite retrouvé en milieu de grille pour la Course Sprint et lorsque les meilleurs pilotes s’élancent devant il est toujours difficile de les doubler. »
La septième manche du championnat FIA de Formule 2 se déroula en Angleterre sur le circuit de Silverstone, du 12 au 14 juillet.

Sergio Sette Camara took his first victory of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, while Nicholas Latifi scored vital points to keep DAMS at the top of the teams’ standings.
Sergio Sette Camara: “It was an up and down weekend. It started with a really bad qualifying, it’s still a mystery why we could comfortably take pole position on one track and have no pace on the next. The Feature Race was not a good day for me and the team. We could have had both cars on the podium, but we didn’t extract the potential due to a mistake I made when I touched Nicky and compromised the result of the team, spinning him and getting a penalty. But the reaction was not negative as Nicky and DAMS have forgiven me. The Sprint Race was brilliant, my first win in a long time which brings a breath of fresh air and confidence. We’re in a good position in the championship and it’s positive energy that we need to keep going forward.”
Nicholas Latifi: “The weekend started off not so bad in practice, just two tenths off in fourth. In qualifying we didn’t maximise our potential in sixth. It was really close to the front of the field so maybe I could have done a better lap. There isn’t much to say about the Feature Race, contact ruined the weekend for me. I got spun round and dropped to last, managed to recover to ninth so we definitely had the pace to fight for the podium at least. It also meant I started further back for the Sprint Race and there isn’t much you can do with the quick guys in front of you.”
The seventh round of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship will take place at Silverstone, Great Britain on 12-14 July.

Après avoir réalisé la pole position, Sergio Sette Camara termine deuxième de la Manche Principale de Formule 2 disputée sur le circuit Paul Ricard dans le cadre du Grand Prix de France. Nicholas Latifi marque des points dans les deux courses et permet à l’équipe mancelle d’accroitre son avance au championnat Équipes.
Sergio Sette Camara : « Ce week-end au Paul Ricard a été fructueux et l’équipe a très bien préparé la voiture. Nous obtenons également notre première pole position de la saison et cela va nous mettre en confiance pour la suite du championnat ! Le départ a été difficile car j’ai toujours quelques soucis avec cette procédure mais nous continuons de travailler pour trouver des solutions. Je pense que nous améliorons notre rythme course après course mais nous devons confirmer nos progrès dès les prochaines épreuves. Un grand merci à DAMS pour leur professionnalisme et leur travail acharné, nous allons dans la bonne direction. »

Sergio Sette Camara took pole position and scored a second-place in the Feature Race for DAMS’ home FIA Formula 2 Championship event at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France. Nicholas Latifi scored crucial points to help extend the lead in the team’s standings.
Sergio Sette Camara: “It’s been a strong weekend at Paul Ricard. We got our first pole position of the season, which is good for confidence. The team gave me a nice car. I struggled a bit at the start of the Feature Race, which is something I still have issues with but we are doing everything to improve. We’re slightly getting better and better, still need to confirm it in future rounds but it’s a feeling I have. A big thank you to the team for always being professional and working hard, it looks like we’re going in the right direction.”
Nicholas Latifi: “Not the best weekend for me unfortunately. In qualifying we were a bit unlucky not being able to set a lap on the second set of tyres but it could have been much worse than sixth. I was confident I’d be able to move forward because our race pace is always good, but this is the first time this season where I just didn’t have the speed and struggled to make up places. We still scored some important points for the championship and we aim to come back strong at the Red Bull Ring.”
The sixth round of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship will take place in Spielberg, Austria on 28-30 June.
